Corrine Lavinia Isenor

Isenor, Corrine Lavinia - It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Corrine. Following her beloved hummingbirds, on Saturday, August 17, 2024, Corrine Lavinia Isenor left us to begin her next adventures.

A loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister and pie-maker extraordinaire, Corrine at the age 74, leaves a huge void within Nova Scotia’s Dutch Settlement community.

Valuing the simple life, Corrine spent the entirety of her years living within a one square block radius at the heart of the Dutch Settlement. Marrying her childhood sweetheart, Darrel Isenor (Brady) at the age of 16; their romance laid the foundation for a close and loving family, that thrived on camping, games and attending dances. Not just the center of her own family, she was a mother and friend to many in the community and will be sorely missed, especially her famous pies. Corrine was well loved for her cooking…she will undoubtedly be creating her goulashes and stews and baking her coconut and chocolate cream pies in her next adventure.

After 42 years of marriage, Corrine was widowed and focused upon family and friends until meeting Bob Pearl. She and Bob would spend the next 14 years lovingly going for long drives, camping and playing Kings in the Corner…and rumour has it, engaging in cake fights.

Strong-willed with a tenaciously big heart, Corrine leaves behind brothers, Clyde, Ashley, Curtis, Kirk, Daniel, and Todd; sisters, Gloria (Tootie) Hines, and Leca Isenor; children, Darren and Anna, Dwight and Becky, and Troy (RIP); grandchildren, Justin, Ken, Troy and Angelica.

Rest in Peace Mom…go dance with the grace of hummingbirds.

We would like to send a huge thank-you out to the team of the Colchester Palliative Department as well as the Colchester Dialysis Team. Their support has been exceptional, and we are eternally grateful.

Donations to St. George’s Anglican Church (1089 NS-277, Dutch Settlement, NS B2S 2J6 / 902-883-7086), and the Colchester Dialysis Clinic (600 Abenaki Rd, Truro, NS B2N 5A1 / 902-893-5554) will graciously be received in Corrine’s name.

Robert "Bobby" George Campbell

Campbell, Robert “Bobby” George - Robert George “Bobby” Campbell passed away on August 7, 2024, at the age of 67. Bobby, or as we knew him, Dad, was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to everyone.

Born in Truro, he was a son of Laura Mary (Finley) Campbell, and Everett Malcolm Campbell, and adopted son of his Aunt Marjorie Forbes (Campbell) Henderson and Uncle Donald B. Henderson.

Dad leaves behind a literal village of people who will love and miss him forever including his ex-wife and mother of his children, Linda Johnson; their three daughters, Kelsey (Matthew), Bailey (Andrew), and Ally (Justin); his siblings, Nancy (Greg), Patsy (Herb), Betty, Paul, Billy; cousin and adopted brother, Mike (Brenda); as well as many, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

He will always be remembered as “Man” by his grandchildren, Layla, Ellie-May, Beau, and Sawyer. They will forever miss their Sunday morning “Mancakes” and movie nights with their Man.

Dad was a deeply beloved father, uncle, cousin, brother, and friend. His passing was sudden and unexpected but quick, just like he would have wanted.

Dad’s early life was defined by his dedication to athletics. He was recognized and respected provincially and nationally as the emotional heart and co-Captain of the Brookfield Elks fastpitch softball dynasty. He broke into Senior Men’s fastpitch as a 17-year-old, played 16 seasons for the Elks, and participated in ten National Championships, winning gold, silver and bronze medals. All of this took place in an era when softball was the dominant summertime sport, and teams had to win the provincial title to advance to the Canadian Championships. He then coached teams in the Elks program for many years - five of his nephews would go on to play at Nationals. Dad’s former teammates on the Elks were his lifelong friends and meant the world to him.

Dad instilled countless lessons in us growing up, first and foremost was the importance of honesty and that he would never be mad at us as long we did not lie to him (even if you hypothetically backed his jeep into a ditch after a party and could have gotten away with it). Perhaps his most significant lesson of all was the importance of being there for the ones you love. He was always there when you needed him, it did not matter the time of day or what kind of trouble you had gotten yourself in, Dad would show up.

Dad got a new lease on life after suffering a massive heart attack in 2016, and lived each day to its absolute fullest. He took on new hobbies like tracking cloud formations, astronomy, and became a master chef as well as an incredible baker. He cherished his time with us and his greetings always began with an affectionate “Hey, you” and ended with a tight squeeze and a “love you, child.”

While we lost our Dad, there are countless others who have lost a friend and loved one in him. He showed up for everyone in his life with a fun “fact,” which he may have to revise a day or two later with corrected information, timely and sage advice, or sarcastic humor when needed. He loved being a part of a big family, both in the traditional sense of the word and also the families he created through ball teams, fishing camps, or his hobby golf course, the “Garden Links.” He has left a hole in all of our lives that can never be filled.

We invite you all to share your fun “facts,” pictures or memories. He would want everyone to laugh and reminisce, and smile together during this time. We hope you all root for the San Franscisco 49ers this year in his honour.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Dad’s life will be held at a later date.

If so desired, donations in his memory may be made to the Brookfield Athletic Association, 57 Carter Road
Brookfield, NS B0N 1C0.

Mark Vincent Rossignol

Rossignol, Mark Vincent - Mark Vincent Rossignol left this world much too soon on July 31, 2024, leaving a gaping hole in the hearts of his wife, Jennifer; daughter, Samara; and family, the Rossignol's, Reid's, and Nobles'.

Born Leonard Vincente Serroul, in Halifax to Regina Serroul and Milton Reid of

Cape Breton, Mark was placed in the care of The Home of The Guardian Angel, where he was adopted by Real and Jeannette “Mimi” (nee Gendron) Rossignol, who named him Mark. He was raised in Lower Sackville, NS, alongside adopted sister, Tammy; brother, Gerald; and niece, Dominique.

Mark attended Sycamore Lane Elementary, Leslie Thomas Junior High and Sackville High School. He earned a Degree in Psychology from Saint Mary's University and briefly studied Engineering at Dalhousie University before deciding to pursue a career in construction. Mark worked in various construction roles throughout his life, including Journeyman Scaffolder and Carpenter in Halifax, Alberta and BC. He also served in the Army Reserves on two occasions, where he gained a lifelong brother, John.

In 2014, Mark reached out to his high school crush, Jennifer Rossignol. They quickly made a deep connection and immediately started building a life together. They married December 2014 and faced many challenges, including 5 miscarriages and the stillbirth of their son, Killian Alexander. Their daughter, Samara Micheline Mary Rossignol was their miracle, and brought immense joy to Mark's life.

Mark was known for his intelligence, love of debate (to him it was all in good fun) and a kind heart. He was well-read and often underestimated due to his bluntness and colourful vocabulary. However, those who took the time to know him found a generous and thoughtful man. Mark enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly in the kitchen, listening to music with his wife and daughter. Anyone who met him knew that “Slayer was the best band ever!”.

Mark maintained a connection with a core group of friends from childhood: Chris, Steven, Andrew, Dave and Wayne, he knew that years could go by and he could ask anything of any of them and vice versa and they would be there. That being said Mark also had a lot of friends that he reconnected with, worked with or remembered fondly... too many to list here, Mark was an oddly social introvert, who could insult you and you would walk away laughing and liking him more. If he ever called you a “Nerd”, you knew he liked you...it was basically a term of endearment for him.

In 2021, Mark was diagnosed with a brain tumour (Craniopharyngioma) and underwent four brain surgeries, which resulted in memory loss and other health challenges. Despite these struggles, he did his best to be there for his family. Just prior to finding out about his tumour, Mark was able to reconnect with his birth family, discovering that his birth parents eventually married and that he had full siblings, Rebecca (Beau) and Aaron (Sarah); half-sister, Kim and her daughter, Erin, with whom he formed a close bond.

Throughout his illness, the community provided unwavering support, helping with bills, transportation, and ensuring Samara was well cared for. Special thanks to Moores Mills Post Office, St. Andrews/Oak Hill/Scotch Ridge Church(es), The Community in and around Tower Hill, as well as Betty and Tony Gatta and our families for all they did to help. In 2024, as Mark's health declined further, the family moved back to NS to be closer to family support. Mark was immediately taken to the hospital where he was admitted and never left. He spent his final days surrounded by loved ones and most of his last 24 hours on the Palliative Care Unit under the Care of Dr. Dave Henderson, who is a lovely and serene man. The Nurses there were wonderful too. Good bye Mister, we will always miss you <3.

Calvin Douglas Higgins

Higgins, Calvin Douglas - It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our cherished husband, father, and grandfather, Calvin Douglas Higgins, of Brookvale, Nova Scotia, at his home on July 30, 2024.

Born in Middle Musquodoboit in 1952, Calvin was a son of the late Douglas Kenneth Higgins and Edith Grace (Hutchinson) Andrews. He was predeceased by sisters, Sheila Andrews and Carolyn Higgins, and infant brother, Leonard.

Calvin will be forever remembered by his wife of 49 years, Martha (Bellefontaine); children, Jill (Michael Ross) Higgins, Casey (Tamaia Wallwork) Higgins, and Emma (Devon) Norris; grandchildren, Isla, Isabella, Rocco, Gia, Dillon, and Alexina; siblings, Donna (Francis) Fraser, Philip (Lorna) Higgins, and Irene (Tim) Bowser; brother-in-law, Marty Andrews; and many nieces, nephews, friends, co-workers, and neighbours.

Calvin was the protector and provider of his family. He was hardworking and dedicated, not only in his adult years but also in helping to provide for his family when he was growing up. He was so proud of his children's accomplishments. Known as CD to his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, they will surely miss his teasing and playful ways. He was renowned for his quick-witted jokes, always bringing a smile to the faces of those around him. His sense of humor was a cornerstone of his personality.

His childhood in Upper Musquodoboit instilled in him a lifelong passion for sports, particularly softball, in which he excelled. He played with various teams and most notably, the infamous Musquodoboit Marquis.

Calvin became involved in the Scouting Movement and coaching softball through the Musquodoboit Recreation Association as a way of being involved with his children's activities.

His love for golf brought him immense joy and many lasting friendships within the River Oaks Community. He will be missed by his Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday golfing buddies, whom he played with on his final day.

His expertly arranged woodpiles were a source of pride and admiration, reflecting his dedication and hard work. The New York Times puzzle was a daily hobby, and he was known for his joy in cooking. His honey garlic spareribs and pork fried rice were unmatched. There would never be a dish that included cheese, however. He always enjoyed a game of cribbage, though the stakes were much higher when playing with his siblings.

Calvin enjoyed a fulfilling career as a lineman with Nova Scotia Power and continued his passion for storm-chasing after retirement with Tri-Wire Line Construction Inc. His knowledge and work were highly respected by all of his co-workers.

At Calvin's request, there will be no visitation or service. A Celebration of Life will be held with family and loved ones at a later date. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.

Calvin was a dedicated sponsor of children and communities through World Vision, and a supporter of the Musquodoboit Valley Food Bank Association, contributing generously to both causes over many years. In his memory, we invite you to make donations to either organization, or help someone in need, continuing his legacy of compassion and care.
