Killen, Charles Robert – Age 74, of Debert and formerly Musquodoboit Valley, passed away August 8, 2024 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro due to complications of spinal cord injury.
Born in Elderbank, he was a son of the late Murray and Ada (Rhind) Killen.
Charles is survived by his beloved life partner, Elizabeth Illingworth; brother, Alden (Shirley), Dartmouth; sister, Pat (John), Edmonton, AB; brother-in-law, Roger (Joan), Lower Sackville; sister-in-law, Colleen, Debert; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Also left behind to mourn are Elizabeth’s daughters, Rachel (David), Franklin, Mass.; and Ginny, Whitehorse, Yukon.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Ethel and brothers, Douglas in infancy and Gary.
Charles was a lifetime farmer and forester. He took great pride in his woodlot. He enjoyed antique tractors, listening to CBC Radio, travelling and attending agricultural exhibitions around the province. For several years, he travelled the Maritimes as an accountant with Agricultural Tax Services.
His stubborn spirit enabled him to live through spinal cord injury.

Elizabeth would like to thank all friends who provided support to her and Charles during these last difficult years. Charles appreciated every visit, phone call and email.
Cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life for Charles will be held on Sunday, August 18 in St. Andrew’s United Church, Elderbank from 2-4 p.m.
