Fisher, Barbara Kathleen – of Middle Stewiacke. It is with deep sadness we announce Mum's death on Thursday, February 1, 2024, in Debert Court.
She leaves behind daughters, Sheila Fisher (Cheryl), Annette Fisher (Troy), Patricia Fisher (Sterling); sons, Phillip, Andrew (Janice), and Paul; her dear grandchildren, Natalie (Craig), Ivan (Angie), Lindsay (Connor), Calan, Jordan, Diana (Michael), Nicole (Matt), Katie (James), Jonathan (Megan), Kenzie (Jamie), Jenna (Tyler), Griffin (Bronwyn); eight great-grandchildren; her brother, Gordon Chaplin (Shirley); as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Fisher, 2003; daughter, Gail Fisher Allen, 1980; daughter-in-law, Sandra (McCallum) Fisher, 2022; her only sister, Mabel Redden (Ronald); brothers, John Chaplin (Marion), Roy Chaplin (Rose); sisters-in-law, Agnes Redden (John), Susan Bonn (Walter).
She was the eldest child of the late Clarence and Grace Chaplin, Middle Stewiacke, and lived all her life in the Stewiacke Valley, a place she loved and was proud to call home. For several years Mum was employed with the Truro Golf Club and the Brookfield Junior High School. She was a caring member of the Middle Stewiacke United Church, a Sunday School teacher, Explorers, and CGIT leader over some years, also a member of the UCW for several years. Mum was a charter member of the Stewiacke Valley Historical Society, and a dedicated worker at the Stewiacke Valley Museum, especially with the Museum's 'Valley Scrapbooks'. Mum always looked forward to having our family together and her enthusiasm to make those times special, especially at Christmas and Thanksgiving are treasured memories for all of us.
Thank you to all the staff at Debert Court for all of your kindness, Mum really enjoyed her time and our family appreciate the great care she received.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at 2 p.m. in Middle Stewiacke Cemetery, Rev. Michael Henderson officiating. Family flowers only. Visitation with the family will be held in the Middle Stewiacke United Church Hall following the service.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Middle Stewiacke Cemetery, c/o Colin Campbell, PO Box 157, Brookfield, NS B0N 1C0. Arrangements are entrusted to Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
