Elva May (Glawson) Fraser

Fraser (Glawson), Elva May – With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Elva Fraser, our loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to all whose lives she touched. She passed away peacefully at home on February 27, 2024 in her 90th year.

Born in Oak Lake, Manitoba, Mom grew up in Mooseland. There she met her future husband, Fred in 1949, moving to Dartmouth in 1956 where they built their family home of the past 68 years. For most of her adult life, she was a stay-at-home mom returning to the workforce after her children were grown, working at Dartmouth General Hospital and then Sears. In her retirement years, Mom loved to have fun and enjoyed bowling, attending weekly social nights with friends, completing jigsaw puzzles and playing any game of cards where she displayed a sense of humor in everything she did. She loved dogs and cherished over the years her time with all the family pets. Most of all she loved any and all family outings or gatherings no matter what the occasion including endless hours spent in rinks watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren play hockey or ringette. Kind and humorous, Mom was extremely proud of her family and instilled values that have served them well. Mom will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Elva is survived by her beloved husband of 70 years, Fred; her children, Debbie (Stephen) and Terry (Corinne), both of Dartmouth. She leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Chris (Laurielle), Leah (Jordan), Ellen and Ryan (Grace); and great-grandchildren, Jaxyn, Brooke, Jayce and Luke. She is also survived by her sister, Jean Fraser; brother, Harris (Agnes); and sisters-in-law, Helen, Dorothy and Barb. She was also blessed to enjoy a close relationship with several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Wallace and Hazel Glawson; siblings, Douglas, Duncan, Harold, Kenny, Edith Messervey and Gladys Prest.

A family interment will be held in the spring in Higginsville Cemetery.

The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to all the wonderful health professionals and caregivers, for their exceptional care of Mom during her illness. Special thanks to Dr. Matthew, Dr. Spence and the Palliative Care Team of Dr. Lees and Darlene Langille, RN.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be welcome to Canadian Cancer Society or your local SPCA.

Arrangements are entrusted to Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
