Manette, Michael Gerald - It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of the Man, the Myth, the Legend, Michael Gerald Manette, who passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 1, 2024, at the age of 69.
He was predeceased by his father, Gerald Manette; mother, Shirley (Chapman) Manette; and brother, Ronald Manette.
Survived by his loving “Honey Buns”, Ruth Kerr; brother, Jimmy (Nancy) Manette; sisters, Margaret (Gordon) Choyce, Linda (Jerome) Gerrior, Deanna (Kenny) Hatch; sons, Jack Palmer, Andrew (Elaine) Palmer, Jason (Holly) Fisher; daughters, Angela Manette, Crystal (Jamie) Manette; stepchildren, Michael (Colleen) Cross, Lois (Glen) Cross; as well as many nieces and nephews and many grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
Mike had a need for speed and raced at Scotia Speedworld for many years. He was also a huge fan of NASCAR and watched it faithfully every week. Michael also had a passion for painting and chose it as a lifelong career. From owning his own business to being partners and working alongside his best friend Ronnie Bonang for many years. The past few years Mike enjoyed travelling across Canada delivering cars. Mike also enjoyed taking trips to Truro for fish and chips with his wife, Ruth and “bestie” Beverley on his time off.
Mike will be remembered most for his contagious laugh and charming smile and on that note, we would like to share a quote from Mike’s favourite race car driver, Dale Earnhardt #3 “You win some, lose some, and wreck some.”
