Grant, Patrick John - With deep sorrow, we, the family of Patrick John Grant, aged 74, of Lantz, announce his unexpected yet peaceful passing on November 2, 2024, in QEII Halifax Infirmary.
Born to John and Dorothy Grant, Pat was raised in Fort Ellis, NS, alongside his five siblings on their family farm.
A man of integrity and dedication, he spent his life working in the construction industry. He was a proud member of the LIUNA Local 615 where he earned a reputation for his strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family.
Pat was passionate about anything outdoors; fishing, gardening, training Labrador Retrievers, working on projects around the family home and watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He will be fondly remembered for his gentle nature, quick wit, and willingness to help others.
Pat is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Mary Jane; his devoted children, Carlene, Sonya, and Steven (Kimberly) and his cherished grandchildren, Allison, Matthew, Lauren, Avery, and Ashley. He is also survived by his siblings, Hazelle (Levi), Kenny (Linda), Harry (Susan) and Mary and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Annie; brother, Murray and grandson, James.
Though Pat faced many health challenges in recent years, his stubborn resilience and unwavering spirit allowed him to continue pursuing the things he loved. This past summer, he found joy tending to his garden, building a new deck which he was so proud of and spending quality time with his family and his faithful dog, Piper
We take comfort in knowing Pat was deeply loved and appreciated by all who knew him. He will be missed but never forgotten.
Our family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the paramedics, doctors, and particularly the nurses on 6.4 CCU in QEII Halifax Infirmary for their compassionate care during Pat’s final days. We are also deeply grateful to our extended family and friends for their support, love, and kindness during this challenging time. Your thoughts, visits, messages, and acts of generosity provided great comfort to us all.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit. There will be no funeral at his request.
