Hutchinson, Freddie John – Age 75, of Shortt’s Lake, NS, passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit, Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro on November 7, 2024 after a long battle with cancer, with his wife, Sylvia by his side.
Freddie was born in Truro to the late Laura and Waldo Hutchinson.
Freddie was a painter, but really a jack of all trades. He loved his work and took pride in every single job he did, big or small. He enjoyed fishing and playing his guitar around the campfire with his family and a group of friends. He loved to explore the backroads with his soulmate, Sylvia. He also like giving loving lectures to his sons, Matthew and Shane. Freddie was always telling jokes and laughing and tried to live life to the fullest. He touched so many lives and made so many memories.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 40 years, Sylvia; sons, Matthew, Truro; Shane (Krystal), Wilmot, NS; grandchildren, Jace and Rosalie, Pictou County; sisters, June Dean, Comox, BC; Bette McNutt (Jim), West Branch, NS; Doreen Green (Dwayne), Harmony, NS; brothers, Ronnie, Stewiacke River, NS; Bob (Helen), Valley, NS; Steve (Ruth), Onslow, NS; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Laura and Waldo Hutchinson; sisters, Joyce, Marjorie; brothers, Ivan and Freeman.
The family would like to thank the entire Palliative Care Team inside and outside the hospital as well as the VON nurses for all your care and compassion. You definitely made a difficult time a little easier.
A Celebration of Life will be held on November 23, 2024 in 100 Harmony Ridge Road, Harmony from 2 – 5 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit, Colchester East Hants Health Centre or Canadian Cancer Society.
