Webb (Russell), Shirley Rae – Age 78, passed away quietly with family by her side on September 17, 2023 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Hilden, she was a daughter of the late Trueman and Elizabeth (Rae) Russell.
She was a Children’s Hospital graduate who also worked in the VG in Halifax, Pembroke, ON and in Extendicare, Armview.
She will be missed by her husband of 55 years, Robert “Bob”, a great dance partner, skating and skiing buddy; son, Dean (Laura), Elmsdale; daughters, Pamela (Dwayne), Belleville, ON; Jennifer (Barry), Ottawa; grandchildren, Katelyn, Samantha, Adam, Emma; great-grandson, Mason; sisters, Bertha Burrill, Dorothy Kennedy (Paul), Emma Russell; brothers, Lewis (Shannon), Daniel (Patsy), Elwood (June); and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her Russell brothers, James, Robert, Leonard and Norman; and sisters, Ester Kennedy, Merle Pettigrew, Myrtle Conrad, Isabelle Nielsen, Irene Patterson, and Florence Day.
Shirley was an avid gardener and volunteered in many areas over the years including Figure Skating, Adult Day, Friends of the Garden, Dalhousie/Agriculture Campus, Bible Hill Garden Club, and NS Provincial Exhibition. She enjoyed special times with family and friends, and fondly remembered all the Sister trips.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
As per Shirley’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. Interment with family will be at a later date in Hilden cemetery.
