Higgins, Carolyn Viola – It is with immense sadness that we share the sudden passing of our beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Carolyn “Carolee” Viola Higgins, age 62 of the Musquodoboit Valley, on July 16, 2020. She was a daughter of Edith Grace (Hutchinson) Andrews, and the late Douglas Kenneth Higgins. Although she had many career paths, she took particular pride in her early career in nursing and kitchen design. Her most recent work with Thompson Brothers earned her many friends and much respect in the field. She was a skilled and dedicated gardener, cook, and craftsperson. Carolyn had an adoration for candle-making and playing Scrabble. She was a tremendous free-spirit and was the life of every gathering. Her laugh lit up a room and the lives of those in it. She had a sense of humour like no other and created many memories with those who loved her. Among her many talents was pulling off a good trick, and making every occasion and visit special. She enjoyed travelling with friends and family. She was the kind of daughter a mother confided in, and the kind of Mom that didn’t just tell you that she loved you, she showed it in every action and word. She was the kind of Gram who blasted rock music while cruising down the road and made birthday pancakes as big as your plate. She was the kind of sister who would laugh with you as easy as she would cry with you. She was the kind of aunt who held no judgment and loved you for exactly who you are and was the kind of friend you didn’t know you needed, but always wanted.
Carolyn is survived by her son, Craig (Tracy) Ashley; grandsons, Aidan and Rylan; mother, Edith Andrews; siblings, Donna (Francis) Fraser, Calvin (Martha) Higgins, Phillip (Lorna) Higgins, Irene (Tim) Bowser; brother-in-law, Marty Andrews; nieces and nephews, Lisa, Roy, Shelly, Trina, Pam, Jill, Brent, Casey, Emma, Rachel, Lauren and Morgan; along with numerous great nieces and nephews; and best friend, Cindy (Jerry) Coxhead.
Carolyn was predeceased by her father, Douglas Higgins; sister, Sheila Higgins; infant brother, Leonard Higgins; niece, Lynne Jones.
A private family graveside service will be held. Family, friends, and loved ones are invited to a Celebration of Life on July 22, at 1 p.m. in Taylor Head Provincial Park.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
