Cox, Nellie Elizabeth - age 96, of Dean Settlement. It is with heavy hearts that we the family of Nellie (Brown) Cox announce her passing on July 17, 2020 at the Mira in Truro, where she has been a resident since Jan. 2018.
She was a loving mother and grandmother, who enjoyed her family, music, dancing and playing cards. Everyone loved to gather in her kitchen where there was always laughter and singing to be heard. She made the best bread and treats and always made room at her table.
Born in Dean Settlement she was the daughter of the late Daniel Brown and Jenny (Dean). Her dad, Dan remarried Jean Ross after the premature death of her mother, Jenny and their family continued to grow.

She is survived by her siblings, Wilbur, Jacqueline, Carol and Stewart, all residing in the USA. She was pre-deceased by her siblings, Ina, Evelyn, Lewis ,James, Laura, Lester, Donald, Phyllis, Daniel and Wayne. She was predeceased by her husband Leon A. W. Cox 1925-2008.
They were the proud parents of eight children which included 3 sets of twins. Surviving are Richard (Evelyn), Billy, Judy, and Betty; daughter-in-law, Joyce; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sons, Leon, Leonard, Jerry and Bobby; her daughter-in-law, Ruth (Creelman) and son-in-law, Leonard Dean; grandchildren, Jamie Duncan and Curtis Cox; and great-granddaughter, Tanisha Peterson.

Many thanks to the kind and caring staff of the Mira, also for her visits from the homecare workers. Big thanks to all frontline workers for taking care of our mom.

Due to COVID restrictions, a funeral service will be held for family only. A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 23 at 11 a.m. in Dean Cemetery with Calvin Burt, Student Minister officiating.
Donations may be made to Sharon Presbyterian Church or a charity of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
