Thompson, Treva Marion– It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Treva Marion (Wier) Thompson 92, of Lantz on June 16, 2020 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.
Born in Nine Mile River, she was a daughter of the late Brenton and Ruby (Burris) Wier.
Treva was a homemaker, wife and mother, raising her six children in Elmsdale. There are many fond memories of ours and our neighbours, of walking into her house and smelling homemade bread and her famous donuts. Treva was well known for her wonderful sense of humour and her love of fashion. She loved a good laugh, a good game of crib or auction forty-fives, and she loved to dance. She was a long-time member of Elmsdale Legion Branch 48 and was an exceptionally good bowler. In her later years, she lived for visits from her children and grandchildren, all of whom she was immensely proud.
Treva is survived by her sons, Gerald Russell Thompson, Alberta; Daniel Merlin Thompson, Elmsdale; daughters, Deborah Margaret Thompson, Halifax; Joanne Rae Thompson, Lantz; Susan Elizabeth Edgett, Berwick; Kimberley Ruby Thompson, West Gore; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Frank Wier, Truro.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Merlin Ray Thompson; brothers, Charles Wier, Lawrence Wier, Carl Wier, Ross Wier, Roy Wier; sisters, Ada Withrow, Jessie Grant, Lorna Rath and Helen Chute.
Cremation has taken place. As per Treva’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Burial to take place at a later date in Sandy Hill Cemetery where a private, family graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to VON, the staff of E-2 in Colchester Hospital, especially Dr. Courtney Smith and Mom’s wonderful nurse for many days, Carla.
Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
