Latimer (Snow), Sadie Charleen – Age 87 of Truro, died at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 16, 2020, in East Cumberland Lodge Nursing Home, Pugwash. Born in 1932 and raised in Florence, Cape Breton, she was the second child of the late Daniel Snow and Catherine MacDonald.
Sadie graduated from Mount Allison University with a B.Sc. in Home Economics (Class of 1952). After graduation, she worked as a teacher at the Lunenburg Academy, teaching from 1952 to 1955.
Sadie married Robert S. “Bob” Latimer in 1955 and lovingly raised three children: Rob, Nancy and John.
Sadie and Bob lived in Orangedale, Charlottetown, P.E.I., Sackville, N.B., Tatamagouche, Truro, Fredericton, N.B. and most recently back to Truro.
Sadie was a lifelong member of the United Church of Canada, serving tirelessly as Sunday school teacher, CGIT leader, and on various United Church Women’s groups. During their years in Fredericton, Sadie worked in day-to-day operations supporting Bob’s educational work.
Sadie loved to cook and enjoyed reading, sewing, Scrabble, various card games, and crossword puzzles. She also loved spending summers at their cottage on Boularderie Island, Cape Breton, and was devoted to her six grandchildren.
Sadie was predeceased by her brother, Vern Snow, who served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a Flying Officer.
Sadie is survived by husband, Bob; brother, Don (Marilyn) Snow; niece, Kelly; children, Rob (Sonya), Nancy (Mike), John (Vikki); grandchildren, Caitlin, Robert (Kat), Brendan (Sarah), Elizabeth, Mackenzie, and Michael.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Anyone wishing to make a memorial donation may do so to Feed Nova Scotia, The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, or a charity of choice.
