Crober (Tyrer), Kathleen Mary – Age 77 of Truro (Bible Hill), passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 12, 2020. Born July 1, 1942 in Rouyn/Noranda, Que., she was the only child of Kathleen and James Tyrer.

Kathy studied Elementary Teaching at Macdonald College (McGill University) where she met her husband, Donald, of Morrisburg, Ont. The large Crober family, including relatives in France, was very special to Kathy. Kathy had a huge heart, quick wit, a knack for storytelling, and above all, love of family and dear friendships. She developed lifelong relationships as the family grew and moved across Canada, and Africa for an overseas assignment, before settling in Truro in 1973.

In Truro, Kathy enjoyed family life to the fullest with Donald, raising sons, James and Gordon. Kathy established deep social roots in Truro through her many volunteer and work contributions to the community. As a real estate agent, Kathy was highly regarded by both clients and colleagues; she received numerous accolades through the years, most notably the Nova Scotia "Life Excellence Award" in 1987.

In 2006, Kathy and Donald retired to their new shorefront home at Caribou River, where she again found new ways to contribute to her community of Pictou, including the Presbyterian Church and the War Veterans Unit. Never one to sit still for very long, Kathy loved to travel – from family ski trips to far-reaching journeys abroad in retirement, with a special affection for cruises. Kathy cherished her memories from these excursions, shared with many close friends and family over the years.

Survived by husband, Donald; son, Gordon (Lorian) and grandchildren Mason, Samuel and Elyse; daughter-in-law, Lesley and grandchildren Robert and Kathleen; and cousin, Tony Orr. Predeceased by her son, James; and her parents.

An event to remember Kathy will take place on Sunday, March 1st at 2:30 p.m. in the Riverview Room, Dalhousie Agriculture Campus, Truro. The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the VON Nursing and Home Care staff and the Colchester Hospital Palliative Care team for their diligence and kindness. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.

Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
