Blades, Earl Francis – Age 76, Cooks Brook, passed away August 24th, 2019, in Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital, Middle Musquodoboit. He is fondly remembered by his children, Ryan, Erin, and Nathan (Brent) all of Dartmouth. Born in Chaswood, he was a son of the late Roy and Alice (McCurdy) Blades.
Earl worked at the NSAC in Bible Hill for 26 years as grounds superintendent before his retirement in 1994, and was an avid coin collector, antique car enthusiast, former beekeeper, and hobby farmer.
Surviving are his sisters, Ruth, Patricia Rodenhiser, Kathryn Barbour, and Norma Higgins; brothers, Alvin, Carl, Walter, Wendell, Keith, and David. He was predeceased by sisters, Ruby Parker and Irene Russell-Baker; brothers, Ralph, Bernard, and one in infancy.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit. A private burial will be held in Gays River Cemetery at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff at MVMH. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or a charity of choice.
