Loren G. Stewart

Stewart, Loren G. – Age 82 of Elmsvale, passed away August 20, 2019 in Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Musquodoboit Harbour, with family by his side. Born in Upper Musquodoboit, he was a son of the late Elmer and Leona (Miller) Stewart.

Loren loved spending time travelling, be it a family trip to Cuba or Hawaii, or a company trip even further abroad. He worked for Bolands IGA for 35 years and many people from the Valley caught a ride to town with him, knowing he was headed that way every weekday. Loren rarely missed a day of work. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed deer hunting, and trips to Newfoundland and Cape Breton for moose hunting. He enjoyed fishing in the Musquodoboit River, the lakes and rivers of Newfoundland and Labrador, and salmon fishing off the shores of British Columbia. For many years he was a key member in the Upper Musquodoboit Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of the Musquodoboit Valley Ground Search and Rescue. As well, Loren and Lynda were foster parents of a number of children over the years. In his later years, he looked forward to sapping season and making maple syrup from the trees in the back yard. He patiently waited for ball season to start to watch the Blue Jays, win or lose.

Loren will be greatly missed by his children, Darryl, Airilea, Trevor and Greg; grandchildren, Dylan, Darcy and Jayson; brothers, Currie, Bruce, Calvin, Boyde, Eric; sisters, Norma, Mona and Karen. He was predeceased by his wife, Lynda; brothers, Ivan and Bryan; sister, Erma.

Cremation has taken place. A family graveside service will held in Hillcrest Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
