MacDonnell, Neta Irene – Age 81, of Elmsdale, passed away October 31, 2016, in The Magnolia Continuing Care, Enfield. Born on Big Tancook Island, she was the second eldest of 14 children of the late Foster and Mildred (Wilson) Stevens.
Neta was a homemaker who loved to bake for her family, enjoyed family times and drives with her husband. She loved bingo, spending weekends in Renfrew, and was honest, funny, caring, had a beautiful smile and big blue eyes.
She will always be missed by sons, James (Nicole) MacDonnell, Jeffrey (Tammy) MacDonnell and their children Rebecca, Sarah, Matthew, Megan; daughter, Sharon Parker and her children Lindsay, Timmy, Natasha; and great-granddaughter, Isabelle. She was also mother of Sheila, Debbie, Barbara and Harold. She is survived by siblings, Daisy, Marie (Doug), Geraldine, Helen (Clark), James (Lee), Bud (Laura), Gerald, Jenny; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, James; siblings, Lillian, Clifford, Willis, Irene and a brother in infancy.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Enfield, with Father Michael Walsh officiating. Interment will be in St. Bernard’s Columbarium. Memorial donations to The Magnolia Recreation Department would be appreciated.
Neta lived in The Magnolia for six years, and was the first resident to enter Sunflower Cottage. She enjoyed her time spent there. Special thanks to all of the great staff who took such loving care of our Mom.
