Baker, Edith Marie “Edie” – Daughter of the late Ira E. Baker and Mildred (Richardson) Baker, was delivered into the arms of her Saviour on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 (one month shy of her 90th birthday), surrounded by her loving family in Dartmouth General Hospital.
Edie was a member and former secretary of Jeddore United Baptist Church, as well as a life member of the Women’s Missionary Society, and a member of the Harbour Lites Seniors Club. She was a much-loved Sunday School teacher and served on the Ladies Auxiliary for many years. Edie’s favourite pastimes included knitting, lexicon puzzles, playing cards and most of all, reading her bible.
Surviving are her daughter, Susan (John) Bowes; her sons, Richard (Stella), Owen (Heather), Glenn (Heather); grandchildren, Kimberly, Steven, Craig, Dawn, Sarah and Colin; step-granddaughters, Brittany and Colby; her great-grandchildren, Joshua, Damen, Goran, Kira, Haley, Liam and Brogie; sister, Marie (Doug) Logie, Victoria, B.C. She was predeceased by her husband, Lester Arthur Sterling Baker; brothers, Doug, Ralph, Charlie, Murray, Donald, John; sisters, Odie, Iva, Elsie, Gladys and Thelma.
Visitation will be held Friday from 7-9 p.m. and funeral service will be Saturday at 2 p.m., both in Jeddore United Baptist Church (corner West Jeddore Road and Hwy. 7), Pastor Aubrey Deslatte officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Interment will be in East Jeddore Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jeddore United Baptist Church or Multiple Sclerosis Society Atlantic Division.
