Ernest "Ernie" Wilbert McMullen

McMullen, Ernest “Ernie” Wilbert – Age 70, of Wittenburg, passed away peacefully with family by his side in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro on January 6, 2025. Born in Hardwoodlands, he was a son of the late Raymond and Helen (Gourley) McMullen.

Ernie was the endeared younger brother of ten older siblings. Born an uncle, he not only loved his nieces and nephews, he enjoyed growing up with many of them. At the age of twenty he met Janice and they set down roots in Wittenburg. Soon, he became a proud father to Meredith and Cody. Years later, he was thrilled to welcome his grandchildren. He thoroughly enjoyed every moment he got to spend with them and has left them with many cherished memories with Grandad.

Ernie spent most of his life behind the wheel of a truck, hauling everything from gravel to gasoline to logs and pulpwood. His favourite was the woods work because he loved that environment and the many personalities he met in that setting. He loved the outdoors, western movies, country music and a good joke.

Ernie will be sadly missed by wife, Janice (MacPhee); daughters, Meredith (Johan) Hilt, Urbania; Roni (Nick), Princeport; son, Cody, Blue Mountain; grandchildren, Helen, Victoria, Michael, Breanne, Emily, Dallas, Cheyenne, Memphis, Jersey and Brooklyn; siblings, Elsie, Kingston, ON; Chester (Donna), Hardwoodlands; many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by brothers, Laurie, John, Elroy, Doug; sisters, Marion, Audrey, Francis and Irene; brothers-in-law, Doug Fulton, Ferris Isenor, Carl McNea; and sisters-in-law, Dale and Connie.

Cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, January 11 at 2 p.m. in Lifepoint Church, 112 Main Street, Stewiacke with Pastor Donald Dunn officiating.
