Frederick Wilfred Logan

Logan, Frederick Wilfred – Age 70, of Upper Musquodoboit passed away at home on January 16, 2025 following a short illness.

Born in Halifax, he was a son of Lewis and Louise (Redmond) Logan.

Fred had only a grade 10 education, having quit school to work with his father in the drilling business as a helper. He went on to work for his uncle John for Logan Brothers. Later after the company was sold to Bill Mundle it became Logan Drilling Ltd. which Fred became a part owner and vice-president of operations. He worked 30 plus years with Logan Drilling. Upon his retirement, he still contracted for Logan Drilling for several years. His two proudest accomplishments were being part of the team setting up Hibernia Offshore Drill rig and being responsible for getting a drill to Greenland following a fire at Logan Drilling in 2007. During retirement, he picked up the hobby of CNC machining, building whatever Nancy found on the internet. Fred had a green thumb and liked growing flowers and marijuana in his gardens. He was very proud of his well manicured lawn and property.

He will always be loved and missed by his wife, Nancy (Nelson); son, Marshall (Abby); daughters, Melissa (Layton), Savannah (Mason); sister, Joanne.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Roy.

Cremation has taken place.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Middleton United Church, Middle Musquodoboit with Annika Sangster officiating. A reception in the Bicentennial Theatre will be held following the service.
