Telfer, Arthur David - It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Arthur David Telfer on the early morning of April 7, 2024. He was surrounded by family as he was being treated at Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche.
Dave graduated from Nova Scotia Teachers College, Truro and then Oswego State University of New York with his master’s degree. He taught school in various locations such as Ontario, New York and Nova Scotia. Dave loved teaching and one of his favorite teachings was driver’s education. Many of his students that he would run into over the years told him what an impact he had on their lives. This would make Dave incredibly proud to have spent the years he did as a teacher.
Dave was someone who loved adventure and traveling. He and Betty owned an RV for many years and were able to travel most of North America and back again. His biggest trip was going on a cruise to Alaska in 2023 with Betty & friends. They made many close friends either on the road or at their music festivals.
We would like to thank all of those that were contributors to Dave’s care over the past few years. Dr Bush, Tatamagouche; Sara; Dr Taylor, ENT- VG; and Kim; Dr Keir Stewart, Halifax; all the nursing staff at Lillian Fraser Hospital; Dr. Stevens, Bedford; all the other doctors that contributed to his care.
He is survived by his wife, Betty (Harnish) Telfer; his children, Debbie (Crawford) Deyarmond, Wendy Crawford (Bill Hasler), Mike (Sande) Telfer, Andy Telfer (Kwala Smith) and Laurie Case; his grandchildren, Lindsay Alcorn Smith (Stephen Smith), Jesse Telfer, Atticus and Loretta Telfer; his great-grandchild, Vada Jane; his siblings, Paula Harding, Bob (Jeanne) Telfer, Wendy (Barrie) Bent, Becky (Pat) Murphy; brother-in-law, Nick Weyland; sister-in-law, Leona Telfer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Everett; brother-in-law, Russell; sister, Diane; parents, Arthur and Eva Telfer; son-in-law, Everett Deyarmond; and son, Tim (Case) Telfer.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Milford Recreation Centre on April 13th from 2-4.
