Carl Wayne McNea

McNea, Carl Wayne –age 77, from Stewiacke, died peacefully the morning of March 30, 2024 with loved ones present in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.

Carl was born in St. Thomas, Ontario in 1946 to Roy and Dorothy McNea. He grew up in St. Thomas with his siblings, Dave, Donna (Roger) and Art (Joan). He found his way to Nova Scotia in 1977.

Carl had a strong work ethic, and was a dedicated professional in the trucking industry, and many other jobs that needed doing.  But when the work was done, it was time for a story maybe a drink of crown royal, but it was always time to be social and have a game of cards, preferably crib maybe 45s, but you could talk him into playing anything. Carl was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 70 and a member of the senior’s club.  He spent various years playing crib in the senior games. He loved his community and the people in it, his neighbours, friends, family and anyone who would listen to a story as he gave them a drive. He will truly be missed, and fondly remembered

Carl loved his family. He was a husband to Irene McNea for 40+ years. He is survived by his children, Lisa (Corinne), Troy (Denise), Ernie and Scot (Amanda). He was also so very proud of his grandchildren, Mackenzie (Colby), William, Evan and Serena. Carl fortunately met a wonderful caring partner in Doreen Leahy, with whom he has spent his later years just enjoying her company playing cards, road trips and family time.

Cremation has taken place. Funeral service and reception will be held on Wednesday April 10, 2024 at 11 a.m. in Lifepoint Church, 113 Main St E, Stewiacke, with Rev. Donald Dunn officiating.  Burial at a later date. Family flowers only.

Memorial donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation and Colchester East Hants Hospice Society would be appreciated.

Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.

Many thanks to the VON, Homecare workers, and Palliative Care team in Truro hospital (CEHHC) for their wonderful support and compassion. A special thanks to hospice, palliative care, Amanda McNea and Helena Castle for their dedicated care.
