John "Jack" David Gibson

Gibson, John David “Jack” – It is with extremely heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our “rock” on September 3, 2023 at the age of 82.

Jack was predeceased by his parents, Tom and Hilda (Andrews) Gibson and brother, Wes.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Verna; daughters, Darlene, Donna (Alison); grandchildren, Kelsi, Troy; brothers, Tommy (Marjorie), Robert (Delcie), Ralph (Sandra); sister, Doris; sisters-in-law, Susie (Pete), Evelyn, Patti, Sally (Kevin); brother-in-law, Chuck (Sheila) and many nieces and nephews.

Jack retired at age 55 after 30 years working at Lafarge Canada where his career began by clearing the land. The next 27 years he enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly the “end of the day” drink with Barney and all the times spent with Doug and Susie. Jack was a 40-year member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch #70 where he spent many hours playing darts, pool and laughing with all the regulars. He loved watching his girls play their sports and then watch his grandchildren play their sports – never missing a game. Besides walking and biking endless miles, he loved feeding and watching the wildlife, especially the eagles. Jack loved watching the Toronto Blue Jays.

Jack will be forever missed by his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was a keeper!

A Celebration of Life will be held 1 – 4 p.m. on September 24, 2023 in Royal Canadian Legion Branch #70, Stewiacke.

Memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
