Rogers (MacKay), Freda – Age 82 of Dartmouth, passed away September 8, 2023.
Born in June of 1941 in Pembroke, Colchester County, Freda was raised on the family farm at Crossroads.
She completed her schooling at Brookfield Rural High School.
Freda settled in Dartmouth in 1962 after marrying her husband, Jim. She was employed as a secretary and insurance agent, before and after raising her family.
As a Mom and later as a Gramma, she was always ready to help, just ask and she would be there!
An active member of Woodlawn United Church, she volunteered in the office,
greeting and worked faithfully at the Fish Chowder Fridays.
Dancing and fiddle music were her passion, helping out every year at The Maritime Fiddle Fest.
Mom was always heading out the door for music and dancing with Dad at a loss keeping track of her.
Freda is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jim; daughter, Charlene Jeannot; son, Brian (Chantal); daughter, Jennifer Lewis (Chris); grandchildren, Kelsie (Aaron), Jakob (Jenna), Elise, Lianne, Cameron and Chloe; brothers, Richard and Alan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Freda was predeceased by her parents, Norman and Alice MacKay; brother, Ian; and son-in-law, Rob Jeannot.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Woodlawn United Church, 11 am on Friday, September 15, 2023 with Rev Mary Lynne Whyte officiating.
A reception will follow in church hall.
Burial will take place at a later date.
The family would like to thank the Dartmouth General Hospital and QEII for their outstanding care.
