Andrews, Shirley – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Shirley (Higgins) Andrews, on August 25, 2023 at the age of 91.
She was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Tena Higgins; son, Gary; brothers, Bill (Ralda), Bob (Phyllis); nephews, Dale, Brock; step grandson, Daniel.
Surviving family members include daughters, Kerry (Peter), Bible Hill; Diane (Wendell), Greenfield; grandchildren, Laura, Stephen; step grandson, Jared, all of Alberta; great-grandsons, Leo, Carson, Lewis Banks; sister, Mary (Jim), NB; nephews and nieces, Wayne, Ralph, Jackie, Michelle, Valerie and families.
Mom had a real impact on all who met and knew her. She worked hard and put her all into everything she did, as long as she could. She raised three children with much love and care.
“The Lord’s protection was with her,” she often said especially while travelling back and forth from Musquodoboit to Margolian’s in Truro, where she worked for 25 years. She always had a smile for all who came in to her workplace, even when she was going through very tough times herself. She experienced many health issues and by the Grace of God was able to endure and overcome them. Losing her son, Gary was the biggest hurtle for her to overcome. She was a giver and she didn’t like to see anyone leave without giving them something. She also influenced her family in so many ways for the good and from the heart.
We will miss her more than she will ever know. Rest in peace Mom. We love you so much and you will live on in our hearts always!
A graveside service will be held in Higginsville Cemetery, with Pastor Joel Wellard presiding.
Memorial donations may be made to Stewiacke Valley Baptist Church or a charity of choice.
The family would like to thank the ambulance attendants and staff of Colchester East Hants Heath Centre, Pastor Joel, pallbearers, staff of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative and all who have helped at this difficult time.
