Anderson, Donald Frederick – Age 85, of East Chezzetcook, passed away peacefully in Dartmouth General Hospital on Monday, June 5, 2023, surrounded by family. Donald was born in Chezzetcook to the late Thomas and Hilda (Owen) Anderson.
The youngest of seven children, he grew up in East Chezzetcook with his four brothers and two sisters at the family homestead where he resided up until his passing. Donald worked many years in the petroleum and transportation industries and developed a passion for farming and excavation in his retirement years. A self-taught jack of all trades he could always be found working on or planning a project. He also enjoyed time spent at his property in Margaree, enjoying his time fishing and farming with valued friends. A loving husband, father, and friend of many, he had a great passion for music, family, and friends. He cherished the many gatherings and camping trips where he and his mandolin would lead us all through song and the making of wonderful memories. It is with sadness that we say goodbye but move forward relying on the strength and resilience that he demonstrated and passed on to those who loved him.
He is survived by his children, Darlene Romo (Donald), Debbie Doucette (Wade), Darren Anderson (Lisa); grandchildren, Blake, Gillian, Chad, Devon, Colton, Kendra, Daniel; great-grandchildren, Chloe, Rylee, Nola and Emmie; partner, Joan Lewis; her children, Bonita Giles (Brian), Marianne Hamm (Tim); and granddaughters, Rachel and Samantha.
He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Shirley Anderson (Goyetche), and his six siblings.
Cremation has taken place.
