Alcorn, Faye – It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Faye Alcorn of Truro. In her 92nd year, Faye passed away in Willow Lodge, Tatamagouche, surrounded by the love of her family.
She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her children, Jack (Della), Jeff (Esther), Jamie and Glen; grandchildren, great grandchildren and cousins.
Faye was predeceased by her parents, Perley and Hilda MacDonald, her husband, Robert “Bob” and her sons, Jim and Gregory.
Faye was born in Edmundston, NB as the only child to parents Perley and Hilda MacDonald. She spent her childhood years in Atholville and Campbellton, NB and after graduation from Campbellton High School, Faye ventured to Halifax, working as a secretary with Eatons. Her life’s path was set when she met and fell in love with Bob in Halifax. Accompanying him to air force training in Ontario she worked in Toronto as a secretary with an insurance company. After Robert’s training they moved to the Annapolis Valley where Bob was stationed in Greenwood and it was there that they started a family. Bob’s work with the Air Force also took them to Manitoba and PEI, eventually settling in Tatamagouche.
Faye loved her family, and they were the center of her life. She was a loving and strong woman, even in the face of life’s adversities. Her belief in an afterlife was strong and even though it pained her immensely to leave us, she knew her spirit would continue with God.
In keeping with Faye’s wishes, a graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, July 7 at 2 p.m. in Lockerby’s Cemetery, Tatamagouche.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
A special thank you to the Palliative Community Care Team who, with much kindness, enabled us to keep Faye at home as long as possible - Dr. Courtney Smith and Angela McDonnell. We also want to thank Continuing Care and the VON for their support and care.
Cremation and arrangements have been entrusted to Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musqudoboit.
