Ethel "Molly" Mary Lennerton

Lennerton, Ethel “Molly” Mary - It is with sadness and heavy hearts, that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother and grandmother on Thursday, May 18, 2023 in The Mira Long Term Care Centre, Truro.

Molly was born in Sussex, England, to Keith and Ethel Harman (Pointer).

Molly’s family, and anyone who spent time with her, could always find comfort in her warm, peaceful nature. To be near her was to be in the presence of grace. Molly rarely complained, and never expressed negativity toward anyone. She was a wonderful listener. Health conscious, she made daily exercise and moderation a priority. Molly’s etiquette and mannerisms were impeccable.

Molly was an English-Canadian war bride, having met her future husband, Doug, a Canadian Service Man, during the Second World War, in England. Over the years, she would share nostalgic stories about her life in England as a girl.

Leaving England in 1945 to start her new life in Canada, with eighteen-month-old son Michael in tow, was not without its challenges. However, Molly was never one to dwell on hardship. She had always referred to her journey across the Atlantic and the transition to family life in an unfamiliar country as “an adventure.” She was in love with her dashing husband, and went on to have three more children, Linda, Sharon and Amanda.

Until recently, she was blessed to have lived in her own home in Stewiacke, in close proximity to her daughters and granddaughter, Megan. She cherished her son Michael’s frequent visits from Montreal.

Molly was just three months short of her 101st birthday. She is survived by her children, Michael, Linda, Sharon (Blaise) and Amanda; grandchildren, Cecilia, Jeffrey, Denise, Krista, Joey, Tammy, Jaime, Jeffrey, Megan and Keegan; nineteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by husband, James Douglas “Doug”; brothers, Gordon, Jim and Tony; infant sister, Barbara; and granddaughter, Rhonda.

Cremation has taken place.

A family graveside service will take place at a later date.

Donations in memory of Molly may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
