Gay (Pratt), Rose Marie – Age 93, born in Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2023 in Oceanview Continuing Care, Eastern Passage.
Rose spent her early years living in Dartmouth with her husband, Russell Marsh and their five children. Special times were spent during the summer at the camp in Lake Charlotte. Rose worked at the Department of Motor Vehicles and sold Avon in her spare time. After Russell's passing, she met the second love of her life, Leo, and moved to a small community outside Shubenacadie. Rose and Leo loved dancing, shopping, road trips, holding hands and spending time in their camp in Upper Stewiacke.
Rose was a woman who held a special place in the hearts of many for her compassion and unwavering love. With ease, she could light up the room with her effortless smile and abundant compliments as was the case at Oceanview. There was a special bond with the employees there like her buddy, Lisa. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by family and friends, especially for any holidays. In her 80’s she and her friend, Doreen would go to All Saints nursing home in Springhill to take “the old folks” on shopping trips.
Rose had a love for The Lord and spent many hours in church and Bible study with her long-time companion, Marion.
Rose is survived by her children, Barbara Patterson (Raymond), Darrell Marsh (Laurie), Kelly Marsh (Scott), Cindy Hahn (Russell); and daughter-in-law, Sue Marsh. She is predeceased by her husbands, Russell and Leo; and son, Vernon.
“Nanny/Grandma" will be missed by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren for “the world’s best date squares”, her Boxing Day gatherings and for making them each feel extra special by slipping a toonie in their pocket.
She was a friend to many and a stranger to none.
Mom, Nanny, Grandma, "Rosie" and all the other roles you filled; we love you to the moon and back.
We hope those two loves of your life are waiting for you in Heaven with a big slice of coconut cream pie.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
