Harnish (Dahr), Helen Jean – It is with profound sadness the family of Helen Jean (Dahr) Harnish announce her passing on December 25, 2023 at the age of 85 years in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Jean loved Christmas; it was her favorite time of year, so it is befitting that she peacefully entered eternal rest on Christmas night. Jean was a daughter of the late Walter Pearson Dahr and Nellie Getrude McLellan. She was born in Port Dufferin and moved to Caribou Gold Mines, Halifax County at a very young age where she grew up and was proud of her community. Jean was an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan and a big highlight was when she saw them play in Rogers Centre. She enjoyed knitting slippers, watching the birds, completing jigsaw puzzles, doing the lexicon each Friday, watching her game shows and chatting with her family and friends on the phone. During her life, Jean was a caregiver to many family members in their time of need. She was strong and determined and persevered through her illness this past year. She will be deeply missed by her sons, Kevin (Joanne), Bible Hill; Patrick (Helen), David (Nicole), Raymond, all of Upper Musquodoboit; grandchildren, Makenna and Donovan Harnish, Emma and Bailey Henley, Ashley Taylor (Chris), Morgan Gale (Jessica); great-grandchildren, Jayden, Jenna, Joyce and Mary; sisters, Freda (Steve) Goddard, Tiny, Ontario; Wanneta (Wayne) Bowles, Lower Sackville; Judy (Ken) Burgess, Bedford; brother, Eric Dahr, Lakeside; sister-in-law, Barb Dahr (Dartmouth); many nieces and nephews; and her extended Harnish family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Murray; brothers, Arthur and Thomas Dahr; sisters-in-law, Ruby and Donna Dahr.
A sincere thank you to Dr. Findley, Cancer Clinic, Dr. MacDonald, the palliative care team on Unit E and Dr. Henderson and Dr. Coad, Colchester East Hants Health Centre for their compassion and care for Jean and her family.
