Benjamin Ward Clattenburg

Clattenburg, Benjamin Ward - On October 16th, 2023 our precious son was taken from us, much too soon. He was our miracle child! Ben grew up in Elmsdale and Fall River and then spent his high school years in Qatar, attending Qatar Canadian School. During the Qatar years he developed many new friendships that endured throughout his life. Also, while in Qatar, Ben got to travel and have some amazing experiences - touring the pyramids of Egypt, snorkeling in the Red Sea, floating effortlessly in the saline waters of the Dead Sea and scaling the 900 stone steps in Petra on a donkey. Ben enjoyed playing hockey but his real passions were martial arts, boxing and going to the gym.  After the Middle East, Ben did heavy equipment operator training in Alberta and then worked various jobs here in his home province for Brinks, Moose River Goldmines and most recently at the Halifax Shipyard for MacKinnon & Olding. During slow times at the Shipyard Ben would often take work with a roofing company.

Ben is survived by his loving parents, Ward and Crystal; Nanny and Grampy (Liz & Dugal) Prest; aunts, Shauna (Jackie) Higgins, Elaine Clattenburg; and uncles, Wade (Judy) Clattenburg, Jimmy (Ruby) Clattenburg and Colin Josey. Although an only child Ben was showered with love from his many cousins. He was predeceased by Nana and Papa (Tina & Jim) Clattenburg; aunts, Aileen Prest Josey, Siggy Clattenburg; and uncle, Peter Clattenburg.

We are broken beyond words, fighting this pain, knowing that Ben would want us to carry on. A service will be held at 2 pm, Tuesday, October 24th in St. Thomas Church, Mooseland, followed by a reception in Mooseland Community Centre.

Ben, our sweetheart, you will be dearly remembered and sadly missed by your family and friends!

In lieu of flowers, cards or gifts please express condolences to our family and honour our beloved Ben with donations to the Freedom Foundation of Nova Scotia.
