MacKenzie, Warren Kraig – We are sad to announce that Warren Kraig “Dudy” MacKenzie, aged 59 of Brookfield, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 8, 2023 in his happy place, the Trout Lake camp.
Born in Truro, he was raised in Brookfield where he still resided. He was the fifth child of Grace and the late John MacKenzie.
Kraig or better known to most as “Dudy” was happiest when he was out in the woods in his mini truck or side by side no matter what time of year. If you were stuck in a mud hole or needed help he was the one that everyone could call or count on to come help. Bonfires, waterfalls, 4-wheeling, curling or enjoying a Thursday night ballgame in Brookfield were his most favourite things to do, other than enjoying his garage or beautiful outdoor space he created at home. He loved the camp at Trout Lake (his happy place) where he and his best friend, Pib would spend hours arguing over everything but always finished the work that needed to be done. Kraig also loved doing anything with wood, he was always working on a special project or making something for his home or his friends. Kraig played ball and hockey with the Brookfield Elks, was a member of the South Colchester ATV Club and still a mainstay at the Brookfield Curling Club. He was the one that everyone counted on when they needed something, even if it was just to stir the pot at a function or gathering!! Loved be everyone, he will be truly missed.
Kraig will be dearly missed by his wife and soul mate, Julie; son, Kyle; stepsons, Devan (Jessica), Adam (Kirsten); mother, Grace MacKenzie; brothers, Kim (Donna), Kirk, Kenneth (Karin), Kirby (Jenn); sisters, Karen, Karla (Paul), Krista (Steven), Kelley; and sister-in-law, Melissa. He was loved and cherished by many people but especially his best friend and biggest supporter, Don Henderson or “Pib” as most know him and his god-son, Kees along with his mother, Janet “Bear”; his parents-in-law, Everett and Margie Walters; brother-in-law, Mark; and sister-in-law, Amanda (Chris); along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family
Kraig was predeceased by his father, John and brother, Kevin.
Cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 13, from 2 – 4 p.m. in the Senior’s Room at Don Henderson Memorial Sportsplex.
Interment will be at a later date in Brookfield Westside Cemetery.
Special thanks to Brookfield Fire Department and EHS, along with Sandy and Danika Nelson.
If so desired, donations may be made in Kraig’s memory to South Colchester ATV Club or Brookfield Curling Club.
