MacInnis, Susan Michelle - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our sister, Susan, age 53, of Halifax. Susan passed away on April 5th, 2022, at Arborstone Enhanced Care, Halifax. Born in Middle Musquodoboit, she was a daughter of the late Donald and Marie (Fraser) MacInnis.
At a very young age Susan travelled by train to a school in Amherst where she made many lifetime friends. Susan was born deaf and taught her siblings sign language so we could all communicate with her. She was a huge fan of playing darts, cards, online games and was a big fan of Pepsi. She also loved cats. She liked being funny and enjoyed it when she could engage in friendly bantering.
She was a loving sister who will be missed by siblings, Mike, Peter (Brenda), Danny (Shelley), Timmy (Shelly), Andy, Ron, Joe (Kim), Nancy; sister-in-law, Janette; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Denise. Besides her parents, Susan was predeceased by brother, Stephen; sisters, Sally (Fred) and Carol in infancy; sister-in-law, Tanya.
Cremation has taken place and a service will be held at a later date.
Special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Dartmouth General Hospital for their care and support during Susan’s time there. Special thank you to Susan’s friend, Denise, who was a very big help during this past year. Also, a special thank you to the Society of Deaf & Hard of Hearing Nova Scotians for all the support provided to Susan over the years.
