Isenor (Ashley), Susan Emily – Age 79, of Shubenacadie, formerly of Elmsdale, went home to be with her Saviour on April 7th, 2022 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Croydon, England, she was a daughter of the late Monson and Constance (Garland) Ashley.
Susan moved to Dutch Settlement in October of 1944, along with her mother, a war bride. There she grew up the eldest of five children. She married her husband, Donald in 1960, and went on to be a loving mother to five children of their own. There are so many things Susan will be remembered for. Among them, her sense of humor, which always kept us laughing even in her final days; her love of cooking and baking for others to express her care; her love of music and her beautiful singing voice; and her love for her family of whom she always said she was so blessed to have. Most of all, Susan will be remembered for what her life centered around, her love of her Saviour, Jesus Christ. We will always remember her wisdom, profound grace and positive attitude as she faced her illness these past couple of years. We have learned greatly from her example.
Beside her parents, Susan was predeceased by her loving husband, Donald; grandson, Jeremy; and granddaughter, Rebecca, both in infancy. She is survived by her children, Curtis (Cathy), North Battleford, SK; Paulette (Stephen), Fort Ellis; Connie (Victor), Lantz; Michael (Amy), Fort Ellis; Michele (Preston), Hatfield Point, NB; grandchildren, Bradley, Christopher, Andrew, Kate, Amy, Evan, Hunter, Benjamin, Faith and Madelyn; as well as 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Tina, Enfield; Jenny (Jim), New Brunswick; and brothers, Bill (Mary), Lantz; and Allen (Brenda), Arkansas.
Memorial arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
Visitation will take place on Sunday April 10th from 6:30-8:30pm and a Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, April 11th at 2:00pm, both at Country Calvary Baptist Church, 1722 Highway 2 Milford, Pastor Morris Mills officiating. Interment is to take place at a later date.
The family wishes to express their thanks to the team on the Palliative Care unit in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, as well as Dr. Henderson, Dr. Coad and Dr. Graham for their kindness and care for Susan.
