Turner (Kennedy), Carol Ann – Age 82, of Bible Hill, passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer on January 9, 2022 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre. Born and raised in Bible Hill, she was the eldest daughter of the late Elmer and Edna (Dartt) Kennedy.
Carol moved to Dartmouth where she raised her family and retired back to Bible Hill with her husband. She was an amazing mother, grandmother and loving wife. Her passing will leave a huge void in the lives of her loved ones.
Right out of high school, she went to work for Maritime Tel and Tel to help pay the bills at home. In her younger years, Carol was always active in intermural sports. She also enjoyed fishing at any brook where water was flowing. That desire never left and in later life, she would teach her children to fish. She then teamed up with three friends to build a smelt shack and enter the smelt fishing tournament in the LaHave River. This became a tradition everyone looked forward to. Carol’s team got national recognition for their smelt shack designs and talent contest victories. She savoured all of those memories until the end.
She is survived by her son, Darren, Quebec; daughters, Darla (Kim), Dartmouth; Georgette (Jim), Onslow; brothers, Bruce (Sheila), Bible Hill; Doug (Faye), Truro; sisters, Judy, Truro; Helen, Bible Hill; grandchildren, Kerri-Leigh (Scott), Dylan (Brea), Brooke (Kal), Carolyne; great-grandchildren, Adrian and Wren.
Besides her parents, Carol was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Merlin.
A graveside service will be held in Bible Hill Cemetery at a later date.
Special thanks to Victorian Order of Nurses and Palliative Care staff for their wonderful care.
