Hiltz, Boyd Sterling – It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Boyd Sterling Hiltz of Tatamagouche, on March 12, 2021, at 80 years of age. He was born in River John to the late William and Lula (Langille) Hiltz.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Shirley (MacKenzie); daughters, Rose (Kevin), Theresa, Anne Marie (Craig); grandsons, Jonathan and Joshua (Rachel); sisters, Edna Gilbert and Elsie (Max) Brown; sisters-in-law, Theresa Henderson, Alma Hiltz, and Bonnie Hiltz; numerous nieces and nephews and his beloved cat, Teddy Bear.
He was predeceased by brothers, Freeman, Austin, Donald and Harold; sisters, Edith Jollymore, Jean MacKenzie, and a sister in infancy.
He worked hard all his life – he met the love of his life while working as a butcher in Toronto; he went on to work for Warren Maritimes Paving getting to pave the Cabot Trail; he had his own business – Boyd Hiltz Foundations and then worked for Logan Drilling where he got to experience Sable Island.
He loved his family deeply and loved being outside and always busy – whether fixing and building things, mowing grass, or giving advice.
His family would like to send a special thanks to the Emergency Room and ICU staff in Colchester East Hants Health Centre for their support, kindness and compassion.
At his request there will be no visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place.
