Noble, Albert Harold – Age 79, of Upper Nine Mile River. It is with broken hearts that we share the sudden passing of our beloved Papa on February 24, 2021.
Albert was always on the go. He looked forward to his daily drives to Elmsdale, never knowing who he may run into. He found enjoyment in the simple pleasures, like taking drives in his red truck, attending races, chatting at the garage, jamborees, making trips to Tim Hortons, shopping in Maine, family dinners, and being at the trailer where he was a long-time member of Avon Boat Club. He loved visits and drives with his family and never passed up an opportunity to recall memories from his past and share about his experiences.
Albert began working at an early age with his father in the woods, then with Major Thompson doing landscaping. He worked for Hubley’s Ready Mix, and then onto Maritime Sand and Gravel. After these endeavors, Albert’s love for machinery continued as he bought his own dump truck and began a trucking business. He finished his career as a heavy equipment operator at the former Halifax International Airport after a cancer diagnosis in 1992.
Whether you were family, a friend, or a stranger, Albert was known for his kindness and would always stop to chat, often asking “where are you from?” He would never miss a chance to socialize which made him a friend to many.
He was a valued member of Nine Mile River Community Hall where he served as president for many years and was an active trustee for over 50 years. He was involved with the Saturday night dances, bingo and jamborees that took place in the Hall.
He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Colleen, and son-in-law, Bert, and loving grandchildren Courtney, Ashley and Brad (Miranda) all of whom he truly cherished. He is also survived by in-laws, Darlene, Myrt, Barb (Aubrey), Gaylene, Lance, Sarah and Bev; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Albert was predeceased by his loving wife of 53 years, Lindy (White); parents, Minard and Viola; brother, Eric; and in-laws, Rollie, Sheila, Dave and Cece.
The family would like to thank the Heart Function Clinic at the Halifax Infirmary for their dedicated care over the past four years.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. in Nine Mile River Community Hall on Sunday, February 28, 2021 followed by a private funeral at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Kim Curlett officiating. Abiding by COVID-19 restrictions, masks and social distancing are required.
Donations in memory of Albert may be made to Nine Mile River Community Hall, Nine Mile River United Church or Sand Hill Cemetery.
