Yould, David Albert – Age 88. It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of David Albert Yould on February 17, 2021 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Truro, he was the son of the late Frank E. and Myrtle Yould. Dave is survived by his wife, Janet (Cavanagh); sister, Karen (Wayne) Morgan; daughters, Patricia (George) Toole, Margaret (David) Grant; son, David (Lisa); brothers-in-law, John Cavanagh (Mona & Cassandra) and Bud Cavanagh. A special sentiment for John who was more of a son than a brother in law. Dave leaves behind his grandchildren, Rebecca, Jennifer, Benjamin, Lauren, Michael, Brandon, Ryan and Madison, whom he taught to swim and water ski and great-grandchildren, Leah, Autaum, Hunter, Travis, Emily, Arielle, Myla and Eloise; and many nieces and nephews; all who gave him great pleasure in seeing them grow. He was preceded in passing by his parents, Frank and Myrtle; sister, Fran Tyler; and grandson, Wilson Grant.

Dave and Janet were happily married for 65 years, living and working in Truro and spending as much time as possible at “the lake”. Dave spent his life in Truro and his first job was assembling and repairing bicycles for the local hardware store. It wasn’t long before he joined his father, Frank, at Yould’s Stationery store and this was the start of his career that lasted for over 50 years. Dave worked in his family owned business, Yould’s Limited, until he retired. He was always the entrepreneur and had very successful businesses which resulted in many friends and acquaintances. His success in business carried over to his philanthropy and he served on many committees and community boards over the years.

Dave had an impact on all who knew him and he was known for his positivity, love of life, genuine caring and sense of humour. His biggest passion was building and creating and his biggest love was his family. Always the provider and voice of reason, Dave, above all else, was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who cared deeply and was devoted to their well being. His presence will be sorely missed.

A special thank you to the medical team of the palliative unit, Colchester East Hants Health Centre. They are truly special people who are supportive and kind and always showed a genuine caring for our loved one.

Cremation has taken place. Interment will be held in Terrace Hill Cemetery, Kaulback Street, Truro and in keeping with his wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. If so desired, donations in Dave’s memory may be made to VON or Colchester East Hants Hospital Foundation.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
