Fleming, Velda Marie – Age 63 of Pleasant Valley, Upper Musquodoboit, passed away peacefully in Aberdeen Hospital on December 8, 2021, with her family by her side.
Born in Middle Musquodoboit, she was a daughter of the late William “Bill” and Audrey (Wood) Fleming. Velda grew up in Pleasant Valley where she will always be remembered as a fun-loving and caring person who loved to laugh. She moved to Dartmouth where she lived for 14 years before moving to Lyons Brook, Pictou County in 2016, to be closer to her family. Velda was a member of Pleasant Valley Sports Association for several years keeping score for the Valley Royals ladies fastball team at games and many tournaments until 2007. She enjoyed knitting, quilting, embroidery and dancing. She was always willing to help and didn’t mind getting her hands dirty, from dressing a deer to chopping wood. But most of all, she loved music and was often heard saying that music was her life. In recent years, Velda struggled with many health conditions, resulting from her diabetes, yet she continued to see the positive side of life and radiated that strength and compassion right to the end.
She is survived by her sister, Bonita “Bonnie”; brother, Elmer (Ann) Fleming; nephews, Kyle Fisher, Ian (Kerri) Fisher and Dale Fleming; niece, Carrie (Scott MacDonald); five great-nieces and one great-nephew; and was a chosen aunt to many.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Sprott Fisher.
