Gardner, Kerry – of Stewiacke and formerly of Truro, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2020 at the age of 81.
Born in North Sydney, he worked in sales at Kohler Windows and in retirement worked for his wife in freelance court reporting. He was a faithful member of St. James Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder for 38 years. He was the representative elder for the Presbyterian Synod and Bible study leader. He enjoyed working at the community dinners at the church for over a decade. He was a former member of Mountain and Brookfield Golf Clubs. Kerry was a member of Truro Curling Club, winning the club championship in 2020.
He is survived by his loving wife, Doris (nee Patterson); daughters, Geneve (Craig) Newcombe, of Port Williams; Andrea (Mike) Kent, of Stewiacke; grandchildren, Robert (Katie) Newcombe, David (Chrissy) Newcombe, Kathleen Newcombe (Shamus MacDonald-Brawn), Samantha and Alex Kent; great-granddaughter, Maddie Newcombe. Also surviving are brother, Bill (Jean) Gardner; sisters, Donna Evans and Diane Clarke; sisters-in-law, Carol (Don) Fraser, Sybil McCurdy, Sylvia Wilkins, Ruby (Allan) Ramsland; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Greta (Nicholson) Gardner; stepmother, Beth.
Funeral service will be in St. James Presbyterian Church, Truro, on Friday, September 25, at 11 a.m. Due to COVID-19, there will be no visitation and limited seating for the service. Please register by email at st.jamestruro@gmail.com. All COVID precautions will be followed.
