Sylvanus Arthur “Junior” Dooks

Dooks, Sylvanus Arthur “Junior” Age 82, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2020 in Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Musquodoboit Harbour, surrounded by family.

Junior had worked at Eaton’s for over 35 years before he retired. He also served as a volunteer firefighter for over 45 years, and was an honorary member of District 10 East Volunteer Fire Department Station 26. He played baseball in his younger years. Junior was an avid hunter and enjoyed telling his hunting stories. He enjoyed family get-togethers, playing cards, watching hockey, baseball, and later on, curling.

Junior is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rosalie; daughters, Darlene (Ron) Myers, Diana (Darrell) Newcombe, Heather (Tony) Mills, and Tanya Mills; along with five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Junior was predeceased by parents, Silvanus and Margaret (Doyle); son, Jason; sisters, Leotha, Maxine; brother, Edmund; son-in-law, Darrell Mills.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit. Funeral service will be Saturday, January 11 at 2 p.m. in District 10 Volunteer Fire Department Station 26, 51 Old Trunk Road, Oyster Pond Jeddore, with Rev. Carson Baxter officiating. A reception will follow in the fire hall. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Musquodoboit Harbour. Junior’s last fire truck ride will be to Independent Pentecostal burial site in Head Jeddore with family and firefighters.
