Hyslop, Twin Clyde – of Fletchers Lake. It is with great sadness that we, the family of the late Twin Clyde Hyslop, invite you to honour his passing with us. Twin passed peacefully on April 24, 2019 surrounded by family and friends in Oakwood Terrace, Dartmouth, where he spent his final years with his wife, Agnes, the love of his life. Born in Halifax to the late Thomas and Heather Hyslop, he began his family, whom he loved and was proud of, in Halifax, then moved and settled into the community of Fletchers Lake.
In his earlier years he was a carpenter for Halifax Dockyard. He worked for many years for the Halifax Postal Service. He was a proud member of the Mi’kmaq First Nations, serving as President of the Native Council, and was the Culture Advisor of Zone 3. He officiated at many ceremonies in his capacity as a respected Elder.
He was predeceased by children, Abigale, 24 hours old; and Gregory, who passed at age 20. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Agnes; children, Patricia (William) Page, Kennetcook; sons, Derrick (Sunny), Fletchers Lake; Jeffrey, Nine Mile River; and Annebelle Hyslop (Bill), Fletchers Lake. He was a loved grandfather of eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and one foster child.
Visitation will be Monday, April 29th from 7-9 p.m., and Tuesday, April 30th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with funeral service on Wednesday, May 1st at 2 p.m., all in St. Thomas Anglican Church, Fall River, Rev. Carl Fraser officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
