Streatch, Rose May – Meaghers Grant. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rose May Streatch, age 74, on September 12, 2018. Born in Dartmouth, she was a daughter of the late James and Geraldine Hickey.
Rose fostered more than 50 children, enjoyed shopping with Sheila, playing cards for the booby prize, and spending time with family and friends.
Left to mourn are her husband of 57 years, Howard; daughters, Cathy (Garth), Sheila (Garland Sr.); brothers, Jimmy (Doreen), Mike and John; sisters, Shirley, Margie (Ken) and Sherry; grandchildren, Natasha (Kyle), Draper (Marie), Garland Jr.; great-grandchildren, Colten, Titan and Dyson; dear to our heart foster child, Josh Graham. She will be missed by special friends, Sheila MacKenzie, Sandra Flemming, Sweet Sixteen Card Party Club, and special childhood friend, Patsy Gosselin. She was predeceased by twins in infancy; brother, Douglas.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be Saturday, September 22 at 2 p.m., in St. James United Church, Meaghers Grant, Rev. Dr. Linda Yates officiating. All are invited to a time of fellowship in Meaghers Grant Fire Hall at 3 p.m. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to SPCA, Hope for Wildlife, Souls Harbour Rescue Mission or a charity of choice.
Special thanks to the doctors and nurses on the 4th floor and ICU of Dartmouth General Hospital.
