Morash, Harley Elliott – Age 91, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2017, at his home in Meaghers Grant. Born in Cole Harbour, he was a son of the late Stanley and Muriel (Elliott) Morash.
Dad loved gardening, fishing, snowmobiling, and tinkering with small engines. In later years, he restored old Cub tractors. He often told stories of fishing trips with his brothers and friends, who he also enjoyed camping and playing music with. He also was an avid Maple Leafs and Blue Jays fan and often had plenty of advice for the coaches. He always loved cutting kraut and bringing in the harvest in the fall, a tradition which he has taught and passed on to future generations. He worked for 42 years in the fuel oil delivery business, starting with Dartmouth Coal and Oil, and finishing with Ultramar as a dispatcher.
Surviving are his long-time companion, Clara Miers; son, Roger (Anne); grandchildren, Paul and Andrea; very special great-granddaughter, Ava; brother, Wilbert (Margaret); several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Eileen (Giles); son, Bruce; sisters, Cora, Bernice, Joyce, Jean; brothers, Cecil, Garnet, Reginald; nephew, Stephen.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be held Friday at 3 p.m., in Church of the Holy Spirit, 1 Regency Dr., Dartmouth, Rev. Edwin Ebsary officiating. A reception will be held in the church after the service. A private family burial will be held in St. Andrew’s Cemetery, Cole Harbour. Memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. In memory of Harley, take a kid fishing, help them to plant a garden, or tip back a glass of “Red Eye”. Dad’s presence, generosity and ingenuity will be greatly missed by us all.
Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
