Isenor, Elizabeth Flora “Betty” – Age 77, of Enfield and formerly of Dutch Settlement, passed away May 14, 2017, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, with her husband of 58 years by her side. Born in Dutch Settlement, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Pearl (Simpson) Hines.
In her earlier years, Betty worked at Simpsons as a clerk. After raising her family, she worked as a lunch monitor at Hants East Rural High School. She was very involved in many activities at St. George’s Church. Her family was very important to her and she loved to bake and cook for them as well as many others.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and will be sadly missed by husband, Hiram; sons, Jan, Derek (Judy Lightfoot); grandchildren, Makayla, Madison “Maddie”, Wyatt, Heath, Lainey; siblings, Auley (Merle), Olga “Bess” Hines, Dorothea “Doll” Jordan, John “Jack”; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings, Lorna Ashley, Aubrey, Nina Ashley, Iris “Polly” Morrison, Joyce McMullin, Errold.
Cremation has taken place. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. George’s Anglican Church, Dutch Settlement, with Rev. Canon David Fletcher officiating. Interment of ashes will be in St. George’s Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. George’s Anglican Church, Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
