Bernard Anthony Barter

Barter, Bernard Anthony – Age 52, of Elmsdale, passed away peacefully at home on March 29, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Dick and Katie (Horne) Barter.

Bernard was a lifelong member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Enfield Branch 133, where he held several positions. He was a lifetime member of the Enfield Volunteer Fire Department, as well as active in the East Hants communities. His career was spent with IMP Aerospace since the young age of 16.

Bernard leaves behind his wife of 17 years, Norma (Trainor); sons, Nathan, B.J., and Dawson; siblings, Susan (Richard) Widgery, Rick (Lorrie), Bob, Ted (Lisa), as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brother, Steve.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be Sunday, 6-9 p.m., and funeral service will be Monday, at 11 a.m., both in St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Enfield, Father Michael Walsh officiating. Interment will be in the parish columbarium. A reception will follow in Enfield Fire Hall. No flowers, please; memorial donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.

Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
