Hartlen, Ira George – Age 79, Enfield. Ira passed away peacefully on Monday, March 27, 2017, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII Site, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Murchyville, and raised in Middle Musquodoboit, he was a son of the late Judson and Effie (Higgins) Hartlin.
Ira was the kindest soul, who never had a negative word to say about anyone. He took pleasure in helping everyone and never wanted anything in return. Over the years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening, and in recent years could often be seen walking to get his mail. Many people recognized him from his walks. He was an active member of the Eckankar community, and held the office of provincial coordinator for many years.
Surviving are his children, Stephen (Cathy), Trina, Dawn (Brian); grandchildren, Cody, Clay, Jillian, Michael, Matthew, Jessica, Brittany, Harley; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Roy (Reta), Ivy, Joyce, Lewis, Elaine; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Ralph.
Cremation has taken place. At Ira’s request, there will not be a formal funeral. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday from 1-3 p.m. in Enfield Fire Hall. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
The family thank the staff of the Halifax Infirmary for the compassionate care provided to their dad at this time.
