Swinemer, D. Alma

Swinemer, D. Alma – Age 93, a long-time resident of Elderbank, passed away on February 25, 2015. Born March 27, 1921, in Springvale, Colchester Co., she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Elizabeth (Whalen) Bezanson. Alma was known for her beautiful handiwork, as well as her love of music, playing the guitar, organ, and accordion.

She is survived by her daughters, Shirley Lacey (Mel Douglas), Faye (Glenn) Fenrick, Juanita Swinemer (Eugene Barry); her sons, Eric (Ruth), Malcolm (Kate); 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Frances, Joan, Karen and Freda; brother, Harold; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Oran; her son, Emerson; her daughter, Betty Isenor; granddaughters, Judy Lacey and Tasha Miller Browning; brothers, Willie, Ervin, John, Douglas, Lorne; sisters, Eileen, Vera, two sisters in infancy.

Visitation will be Friday from 7-9 p.m. and funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m., both in St. Andrew’s United Church, Elderbank, Rev. Dr. Linda Yates officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Elderbank Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Elderbank Cemetery Commission, c/o Lori MacEwan, RR1 Elderbank, B0N 1K0, or a charity of choice.
