Stevens, Helen M. – Of Stewiacke, passed away on December 17, 2014. Born in Morristown, N.J., she was a daughter of the late Frederick Amasa and Mary (Harendarick) Bigelow. Helen graduated from Glace Bay General Hospital School of Nursing in 1950. She enjoyed a nursing career for many years at hospitals in Musquodoboit Harbour and the United States.
Surviving are her brother, John; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ivan; son, Michael; brother, Percy; sister, Jean.
Helen loved her cats, especially Billy. Helen was loved, in spite of herself, by many of her care workers, and is missed by others who lived around her.
Cremation has taken place. Interment will follow in the spring in Pine Grove Cemetery, Stewiacke East.
Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
