Barbara Jean (Weatherbee) Wilson

Wilson (Weatherbee), Barbara Jean - Barbara Jean (Weatherbee) Wilson was born in 1947 to Earl and Muriel (Nichols) Weatherbee. Barbara was born at home in Belmont, where she lived for most of her life. She married Jon Wilson in 1965 and they had almost 60 loving years together.

Barbara was proud to be a homemaker, but also worked outside of the home for a number of years. She was a prolific seamstress and made the most beautiful clothing and quilts, making all of her grandchildren quilts for their 18th birthdays. Barbara was also known for her delicious baking and homemade bread, and was a fantastic cook. A huge part of Barbara’s life was the Belmont United Baptist Church, where she was an active member and involved in many aspects of church life. She loved watching the hummingbirds and monarch butterflies in her flower beds.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Jon; sons, Perry (Karri Lynn) of Belmont; Tim (Anna) of Bible Hill; Jon of Alberta; and Carl (Judy) of the Philippines; daughters, Bette Lou (Dwayne) of Mississippi; and Billie Jo (Stephen) of Bible Hill; grandchildren, Linda, Timothy, Elizabeth, Tyler, Emily, Maggie, Natalie, Josie, Charlie, Marrina, and Jon Ansel; several wonderful great grandchildren; sisters Marjorie, Marilynn, Bette, and Leona; and brothers, Earl, and Kelly. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Joanie; and brother, Jack.

After a brief illness, Barbara passed away on January 1, 2025 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, surrounded by her family. No visitation or funeral by request. There will be a gathering for family at the church, with a funeral at a later date.

Barbara loved to help others and believed that “No kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”
