MacKay, James “Jim” Robert Harold – age 68, of Upper Musquodoboit, passed away in Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital on June 30, 2024, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Moncton, NB, he was a son of the late Harold and Ada (Gunn) MacKay.
Jim worked in the woods driving a machine until 1990. He then went long-haul trucking from which he retired in 2014. He was an avid NASCAR fan, Toronto Blue Jays fan and Toronto Maple Leafs fan. Jim had been a cub scout leader in Upper Musquodoboit. He enjoyed his many trips to Florida or anyplace warm.
He will always be loved and missed by his wife of 46 years, Karen (Harnish); son, Cory; grandsons, Maddox and Logan; sisters, Corinne (Carmen), Judy (Wendell); mother-in-law, Jessie Harnish; sisters-in-law, Sherry (Randy), Janette (Steve), Heather (Craig); brothers-in-law, Darrell (Karen), Chris (Barb); many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by father-in-law, Doug Harnish.
Cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2 – 4 p.m. in Upper Musquodoboit Fellowship Hall.
Memorial donations to Canadian Cancer Society or Parkinson Society Nova Scotia would be appreciated.
